The Invisible exhibition has inspired many letters – some outraged, some humorous. One of our favourite responses came from the painter Bill Stott, who sent us these cartoons.

Excellent stuff.
It’s good to see the Hayward continuing to treat us to humour – following the Laughing in a Foreign Language, Shrigley and Invisible exhibitions – now some actual cartoons!
At last humour is being taken seriously.
Beautiful, and in my opinion the correct response. Life in general and the art-world in particular needs to embrace more humour.
Excellent stuff – Bill Stott is a master of the gag. So nice to see Hayward taking a less-than-serious look at itself.
Well done, Hayward!
Humour is probably the best leveller there is, Bill Stott is a master of it – and it’s great to see that the Hayward is robust enough to include such a sideways look on this website. Inclusivity being a sine qua non in contemporary arts, using humour is the most fantastically effective way I can imagine – and if I were wavering, these gags would certainly send me scurrying along to the show!
